Patrick Ludlow Calhoun

Calhoun was born in the Abbeville District of South Carolina in 1813. A planter before the War, he served in the state legislature from 1844 to 1854. He became lieutenant colonel of the 13th South Carolina in September 1861. In June of 1862, he resigned due to pleurisy.

Calhoun then enlisted as a private in the 5th South Carolina Reserves in November. He died on June 8, 1863 and was buried at Huntsville Church near Clinton, South Carolina.
