Charles Floyd Hopkins
A native of Georgia born there in 1825, Hopkins graduated from the US Naval Academy at Annapolis. He served in the navy for a period, resigning in November 1851. He then became a civil engineer in St. Augustine. He enlisted as major of the 1st Florida Battalion, eventually becoming colonel of the 10th Florida on June 11, 1864. Hopkins was wounded in the thigh and arm at Olustee. He commanded the 10th Florida until Appomattox.
Hopkins died in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 72.
