Thomas William Mayhew

Mayhew was born on December 14, 1838 and lived in Hyde County prior to the War. He became the captain of B company on September 20, 1861, rising to the rank of major by early August 1862. He was captured at New Bern in March 1862. Mayhew was mortally wounded at Chancellorsville and died on May 12, 1863 in Richmond. He was buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery in New Bern, North Carolina.
